Glutathione is the body’s most abundant intracellular antioxidant. Its thiol group neutralizes reactive oxygen species, regenerates other antioxidants (vitamins C and E), and conjugates toxins in hepatic phase II detoxification pathways. Deficiency has been associated with oxidative-stress-related conditions, but direct clinical evidence that supplemental IV or injectable glutathione improves long-term outcomes in healthy adults is limited.
Bioavailability is a key consideration: oral glutathione is poorly absorbed intact, which is why injectable and IV routes are preferred for clinical supplementation. Safety data on long-term parenteral glutathione in healthy adults remain limited, and the FDA has specifically cautioned against injectable glutathione for skin-lightening purposes after reports of serious skin reactions and infections.
Do not use glutathione if you:
Tell your provider before starting glutathione if you:
Common side effects may include: nausea, abdominal cramping, headache, injection-site reactions, flushing, mild dizziness.
Serious but less common risks may include: Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis (rare, reported with injectable use), severe allergic reactions, thyroid dysfunction, kidney dysfunction, and infection at injection/IV sites.
This is not a complete list of side effects or contraindications. Compounded glutathione is not FDA-approved. Long-term safety data are limited. Talk to a licensed healthcare provider before starting or continuing glutathione therapy.

Glutathione is a tripeptide antioxidant found in every cell. It neutralizes reactive oxygen species, supports the liver’s phase II detoxification pathway, and maintains the function of other antioxidants. Levels can decline with oxidative stress, chronic illness, and age.
Oral glutathione is poorly absorbed because it is broken down during digestion. Subcutaneous or intramuscular injection and IV infusion bypass the digestive tract and deliver glutathione more effectively, which is why these are the preferred clinical routes.
We do not prescribe glutathione for skin lightening. The FDA has issued warnings about serious adverse events; including severe skin and liver reactions; associated with injectable glutathione marketed for skin whitening. Our glutathione therapy is provided for antioxidant and hepatic-support purposes only, under medical supervision.
Most people tolerate glutathione well. Common side effects are mild and transient: nausea, abdominal cramping, headache, flushing, or mild injection-site reactions. Serious reactions are rare.
Complete our online health assessment, share relevant medical history (particularly asthma, liver, or kidney issues), and connect with a licensed provider. If glutathione is appropriate for you, your provider will develop a personalized protocol.
